Yandex Webmaster in the dashboard: impressions, clicks and article status
Table of Contents
The Search tab shows what your articles brought in Yandex: impressions, clicks, positions and queries — for the whole site and every article, without opening Yandex Webmaster. It also shows why an article isn't in search and what to do about it. The feature is available on the Starter, Pro and Agency plans; on the free plan and during the trial the tab shows what it offers.
How to connect
- Open the site and go to the Search tab (or Account → Yandex Webmaster).
- Click Connect Yandex Webmaster and choose the Yandex account where your site is added and verified.
- Grant access. The Yandex screen also mentions “adding sites” — that is the permission Yandex requires to return indexing status. The service doesn't change your sites in Webmaster.
- The service finds your sites in the account automatically. The first data load takes a few minutes.
You can connect several Yandex accounts — sites from each are matched automatically.
What you see
- Impressions, clicks, CTR and average position of the site for 7, 28 or 90 days, with the change against the previous period and a daily chart.
- Articles table: impressions, clicks, position, top query and search status of each article.
- Article card: the path from publishing to the first click, the queries that find it, a chart and the status with its reason.
Yandex returns data with a delay of a few days, so the date the data is ready through is always shown. Yandex keeps page history for 14 days: right after connecting, articles show the last two weeks, and the history grows every day after that.
“What to do”
Tips are grouped by meaning, the most important first. Each has a reason and an action: the site is barely indexed, the page doesn't open, it's blocked on the site (noindex or robots.txt), it redirects, it moved (“Update URL”), it isn't in search (recrawl), it's losing impressions, Yandex considers it low-value, it's almost in the top 10, and article ideas from Yandex queries.
Recrawl
New articles are sent to recrawl automatically a few minutes after publishing; you can turn this off on the Search tab. You can send one article manually once a day. The recrawl quota is shared with your Webmaster (usually 150 pages a day) — the service shows what's left and uses no more than half of it automatically.
How to disconnect
Account → Yandex Webmaster → Disconnect. Access is revoked in Yandex too, and the collected statistics are deleted. You can disconnect on any plan.
